Your Project Management Master's at IU
Planning and implementing projects, owning all aspects from the makeup of the team to the processes and their results. You’ll be combining a broad range of areas, drawing on technical, sociological and psychological knowledge. If you already have a degree in economics or engineering, the 120-ECTS consecutive master’s in Project Management is perfect for you. Over the length of your course, you’ll learn established methods as well as hone your soft skills which are vital to lead teams and communicate complex ideas.
The two-semester 60-ECTS programme is aimed at anyone with qualifications from outside the field who have already gained professional experience in project management after completing their first degree.

DEGREE OVERVIEW
You will deepen your knowledge of the internationally established methods of project management, project requirements, strategic management decisions and leadership. In the second semester, you will be taught important skills in change management, agility, discussion skills and creative working methods. You will also learn how to measure and evaluate the success of your projects and apply your acquired know-how in a practical project simulation. Your third semester rounds off your profile with international skills and electives of your choice. You can either choose exciting project management electives in Scrum or Prince2, or you can choose specific business applications such as industrial automation, business intelligence or data engineering.
The 60-ECTS version of this degree is perfect if you already have at least one year of professional experience in project management, offering you the opportunity to hone your skills over two semesters instead of four. You will become better acquainted with the central principles of international project management and offer you the confidence that comes with an accredited qualification.
During your 60-ECTS degree, you have the opportunity to choose an elective amounting to 10 ECTS.

In all areas of the economy, more and more work is being done on projects. Especially in large or complex projects, a systematic approach is necessary. The position of project manager can involve very large responsibilities (e.g. building an airport). Although there are projects with exclusive business orientation and others with an exclusively technical orientation, very many projects require knowledge from both areas as well as the ability to weigh the different aspects against each other.
SCRUM is an agile project management method that is nowadays not only used in software development but can also be applied to many business-related areas. The Scrum Master has the task of enabling the other team members in the SCRUM team to apply the rules of SCRUM for the most efficient project work. They are responsible for ensuring that all participants understand the SCRUM theory, practices, rules and values. In doing so, they act as a facilitator and coach and provide support in the SCRUM process. Their goal is to enable the SCRUM team to work according to the rules of SCRUM and to be as efficient as possible.
IT project managers plan, organise, and control information technology projects. They coordinate all employees, departments and external service providers involved. In doing so, they always keep an eye on the schedule and the budget. In addition to the correct implementation of the projects, they are also responsible for achieving the goals.
